At Public Service Events' second annual Renewable Energy in the Public Sector conference, sponsored by British Gas, delegates from across the public sector heard from a programme of excellent speakers about the great opportunities presented by renewable energy. As well as their importance in meeting environmental objectives, renewables offer a significant opportunity for public sector organisations to establish a new income stream, especially given the large amount of land they own. Delegates learned about incentives such as the Renewable Heat Incentive and Feed-in Tariffs, as well as innovative new financing models being introduced in areas such as Birmingham and Newcastle.
