A continuous improvement (CI) approach is being implemented in forward-thinking public organisations that grasp the need to become more flexible and responsive to deal with a world of constant change. This is not just about saving money and stopping unnecessary processes; it is about improving for the benefit of service users and getting staff to use their creativity.

Really good work has been done in pockets across the public sector, but a lot is being replicated in different parts of the UK. The Continuous Improvement conference provides an excellent opportunity for organisations to share what they have done so far, as well as to learn from what others are doing. There must be an appetite for seeking out good practice and learning from others; the best organisations are constantly looking to find out where things are being done better.
