Shared Services

OVERVIEW

In February this year, Public Service Events hosted Shared Services for Local Government: Prepare to Share, at which key decision-makers with a hand in the delivery of this core element of the Transformational Government programme (including Jo Clift, Head of the Shared Services team at the Cabinet Office, and John Oughton, the then Chief Executive of the OGC) shared with an expert audience their views on the path towards successfully initiating shared services projects across local government. Delegates also enjoyed presentations from local authorities piloting shared services projects to get a first-hand view on achieving Best Practice in this relatively new area of activity.

Following on from the success of this conference, and in response to demand for a look at Shared Services across the whole of the public sector, Public Service Events is pleased to announce a follow-up conference, Shared Services for the Public Sector: Transformation through Collaboration, to take place at the Barbican, London, on 3rd October. With further cross-sector efficiency targets beginning to bite, the pressure is on to save money through consolidating services, and the progress of Shared Services across the public sector is currently under scrutiny, with the NAO currently analysing what has been achieved so far.

Set against this backdrop, our conference will focus on the key prerequisites of building successful partnerships between government bodies: matchmaking between departments, agencies and local authorities; communications; teamworking; and contractual issues, equipping delegates with the knowledge and insights to ensure that their own shared services projects are constructed on solid foundations, delivering the very best services with minimal inconvenience. Drawing on high level guidance and examples of Best Practice from around the public sector, our plenary session will highlight the latest policy and analysis of shared services within government, giving attendees an important and valuable snapshot of what has been achieved, and what is yet to achieve.

If you have a role in instituting shared services projects, and work in the public sector, Shared Services for the Public Sector will be a must-attend conference. Book today to secure your place for this key event!
