Public Health

OVERVIEW

With rates of obesity and binge-drinking on the rise, various public health questions have arisen. The recent Budget saw a further rise in the duties on tobacco and alcohol, but does more need to be done than offering lower tax for those living healthier lifestyles? Have the 24-hour licensing laws helped or hindered attempts to eliminate binge drinking? Is obesity a result of society becoming more gluttonous, or is greater convenience and abundance to blame? In response to such questions as these, on 8th October 2008 Public Service Events will host Public Health: Achieving Cultural Change at the Barbican Centre in London.
