
With rates of obesity and binge-drinking on the rise, various public health questions have arisen. The recent Budget saw a further rise in the duties on tobacco and alcohol, but does more need to be done than offering lower tax for those living healthier lifestyles? Have the 24-hour licensing laws helped or hindered attempts to eliminate binge drinking? Is obesity a result of society becoming more gluttonous, or is greater convenience and abundance to blame?
