Modernising Policing 2

OVERVIEW

In recent years, there have been dramatic changes in our society, and the need for efficient and comprehensive policing is as acute as ever. Following on from the debate started at our first Modernising Policing event, Public Service Events is delighted to announce ’Modernising Policing 2: Shaping the Force of the Future’ at the Barbican on 3rd December.

The police’s task of protecting communities across the country has been subject to shifting priorities since the start of the millennium, with an increased focus on tackling anti-social behaviour at one end of the scale, and counter-terrorism, as well as continued concern over drugs and serious organised crime at the other. Our first event raised a range of pressing problems that police forces face, not least that as technology improves, new types of crime emerge, and with the police, by their nature, being very much a reactionary force, how can they prepare for threats of which they cannot be aware?
