Powering towards 2020

OVERVIEW

What is the future of power generation in the UK?

How will we, the UK, meet our targets for future demand and yet still stay within acceptable environmental constraints?

As the Government gives the go ahead for nuclear and clean coal fired power stations where else can we look to generate additional sources of energy for consumption in the UK?

And how can we make those existing sources more efficient?

A nuclear revival is sweeping the world as concerns over climate change and security of energy supplies lead policymakers and industry worldwide to pay ever closer attention to the nuclear option.

Powering towards 2020 will look at currently available sources plus the alternatives to help meet the demands of future power consumption in the UK; these include wind, wave, solar, PV, ground -source, biomass, energy from waste, CHP and community heating.

There is an inevitable energy crisis looming caused by unstable world supplies of gas and oil, our reliance on fossil fuels and the continued inefficiency in both production and usage of energy cannot continue.

We need to be more self sufficient and look to the knowledge and resources we have in the UK to create a long term legacy of power generation, not only for the sake of the environment but also a stable and thriving economy.

Government says;

"Giving the go ahead that new nuclear power should play a role in providing the UK with clean, secure and affordable energy is in our country's vital long- term interest.

"Set against the challenges of climate change and security of supply, the evidence in support of new nuclear power stations is compelling. We should positively embrace the opportunity of delivering this important part of our energy policy." John Hutton MP

This one day conference 'Powering towards 2020' provides a unique networking opportunity for delegates from both the public & private sectors to discuss the future of power generation in the UK and share Best Practice.

Whether you are responsible for energy within Local Government, involved in R&D or CEO of an energy company, 'Powering Towards 2020' is the must attend-event in the energy calendar.
