Following the general election, there is a new minister responsible for data protection and freedom of information. This conference aims to be the first opportunity for delegates to hear, directly from the Ministry of Justice, about what the future holds for information governance in the UK. It will be an ideal point at which to look at successes and failures in data protection and freedom of information, and how they will develop in the next five years.

The protection of personal data remains a major issue, especially within the public sector. Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act is extremely important, particularly given the new powers which the Information Commissioner’s Office gained in April this year. This event presents a chance to review the consequences of these new powers, and other recent developments from the ICO.
