The strengths of the Private Finance Initiative are becoming more apparent and in recent years the PFI approach and PPPs have been adopted by developed nations from the Netherlands to Japan.

Despite heavy criticism over tendering processes, here in the UK, where PFI originates, many success stories can now be found, from Building Schools for the Future to the rising number of PFI-funded street lighting schemes.
