Karl Baker, Business Development Director, DFTS, BT Global

Karl has a career spanning over 20 years in BT. Initially focussing on engineering he has, for the past ten years been part BT's delivery team for DFTS. During this time he has been responsible for developing its operations and services processes that governed the interaction between DFTS and its customers before moving into business management where he became responsible for the commercial aspects of the MoD's networks. Karl is now the business development manager for DFTS services with particular responsibility for DFTS in industry and other government departments. Karl was recently awarded his MBA in Business having successfully completed his studies at Nottingham University.

The Case for Partnership in PFI.

Using DFTS as a case study, the presentation will touch on the MoD's objectives, BT's objectives and why they are not mutually exclusive. Having established this tenet they will go on to explain how trust, co-location and, finally, a shared mission, vision and strategic objectives has delivered capability to the MoD, and value to HM Government and BT stakeholders.
