In March 2006 PSCA worked with Defra and other leading departments on a National conference focusing on the practical implications of delivering the UK's Sustainable Development strategy which was detailed in the "Securing the Future" document published in spring 2005.

Working with a broad range of different stakeholders from public and private sectors, we highlighted the necessary changes in behaviour that need to occur and also the sound economic and environmental benefits in doing so. Through our workshop sessions we allowed organisations such as the Countryside Agency, Powergen, EDF Energy, DTI and others to present educational and informative examples of Best Practice and successful methodologies.

Our consultation surgery allowed many other leaders in their respective fields to provide a similar experience for our delegates.

Having successfully delivered this event, our ambition is to assist in the communication of these agendas from policy stages to implementation, which requires a more in-depth analysis of the four priority areas:

• Sustainable consumption and production
• Climate change and energy
• Natural resource protection
• Sustainable communities

To ensure that we deliver on this, in addition to our annual 'Sustainable Development' conference, we will also be organising a series of seminar-driven conferences looking at these areas individually throughout the year.
