| Balfour Beatty reaches financial close on £180m Glasgow hospitals PFI |
|
Balfour Beatty Construction is to build two new hospitals in Glasgow following the signing of a £180m PFI contract today between a Canmore Partnership-led private consortium and the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board.
The consortium, Glasgow Healthcare Facilities, comprises four equity providers, Canmore Partnership, Barclays Private Equity, The PFI Infrastructure Company and UME Investment.
Balfour Beatty will construct one new ambulatory care and diagnostic centres at Stobhill Hospital and another one adjacent to the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow.
The consortium was selected as preferred bidder in July 2005. Stobhill Hospital in the north of the city will feature a T-shaped, four-storey complex with distinct areas for imaging and operating suites, consulting suites and clinics, linked by a central arcade.
The Victoria Hospital development in the south of the city will comprise a crescent-shaped, three-storey building. It will incorporate three distinct zones covering out-patients, day treatment and elderly ward areas, imaging, endoscopy and day surgery. The concession period to maintain and provide services will last for 30 years. |
